The Labour staffer at the centre of sexual assault allegations has resigned from his job.
The man's lawyer, Geoff Davenport, says his client is adamant the claims have no foundation.
He says he co-operated fully with the Labour Party's inquiry - which concluded there was no case to answer.
Mr Davenport says his client is in a distressing situation, now facing a further inquiry and litigation by media - which is taking a severe toll.
And given the stress his client has been caused and the need for him to focus on the new QC's inquiry - he has resigned his role in Parliament.
The man at the centre of the allegations has also written a statement. It is read out here.
